Investment Approach
An active extension strategy combines elements of both long-only and market neutral investing by partially relaxing the long-only constraint. Like long-only strategies, active extension strategies are typically benchmarked against traditional equity indices. Like market neutral strategies, the success of a 130/30 strategy hinges on a manager’s skill in short selling and managing risk.
We have a well-established track record managing quantitatively- and fundamentally-driven long-only and equity market neutral strategies. As with our market neutral funds, our product suite includes three pooled vehicles as a means for investors to implement a 130/30 strategy.
Most recently, we launched a fundamental Canadian active extension pooled fund trust, one that complements existing quantitative active extension funds.
