Portfolio Update
Quarterly Update
Canadian equities rose over the quarter as investor confidence continued to be buoyed by strong policy responses from the U.S. Federal Reserve Board and the European Central Bank. The Fund’s performance was helped significantly by an underweight position in materials, overweight exposure to financials and good stock selection in industrials. Energy stocks in the Fund performed positively and good stock selection boosted returns. Consumer staples detracted from relative performance. The portfolio adviser anticipates that equities will outperform bonds and companies that can grow dividends alongside earnings will continue to do well as interest rates remain low.
