Why Invest
Portfolio Update
Quarterly Update
The Bank of Canada (the BoC)
held the overnight interest
rate at 1.00 percent in
September. It noted that
global economic growth is
slowing, as it predicted, and
that economic growth in major
emerging markets, including
China, is slowing more rapidly
than expected. Although
dampened by global headwinds,
Canadian economic growth
continues and is expected to
improve during 2013. Should
Canada’s economic expansion
continue, the BoC thinks some
modest withdrawal of the
present considerable monetary
policy stimulus may become
appropriate. However, it will
consider both domestic and
global economic developments
before acting. The Fund
maintained its asset mix, with
the weighted average maturity
targeted at around 96 days.
